Design and Technology
Intent
- All students should leave JMA with an understanding of the history of art and design, a knowledge of different artists and designers, and the practical skills to be able to create their own meaningful work.
- We aim to provide a well-rounded curriculum, focusing on allowing students to join in on making decisions, taking risks and expressing themselves creatively, while giving them the knowledge to develop their own opinions and interpretations of different types of work.
- We respond to the student's cultural capital needs by establishing an understanding of different artists, designers, photographers and craftspeople, in the world around them.
- Students should be motivated to create their own work, and develop in skills, they are taught in the classroom, through research and a variety of media.
- All students are empowered to be ambitious in their art work, by being scaffolded to build on their creativity and thrive in their art work through experimentation and learning from mistakes.
