Overview
Vision
At John Madejski Academy our core values (Work Hard, Be Kind) permeate all that we do. In our achievement-orientated culture, teaching and learning is our highest priority. We want our students to be healthy and have a great life. We are deeply committed to opening the hearts and minds of our future-focused young people.
We recognise that in order to succeed, students need to feel happy and supported. In the sixth form, we combine a caring and friendly approach within a studious and well-ordered environment. Students are valued and given the opportunity to be role models for the rest of the school community. A broad and balanced curriculum is offered as well as support, advice, and guidance to provide a positive successful experience for all our students.
We are extremely proud of all our students who graduate from our sixth form to achieve further successes; whether that be attaining a place at a top UK university, gaining employment, accessing apprenticeships, achieving sports scholarships or making it in full-time sport. We expect all our students to be ambitious about their future aims. Year 12 will start their career journey with us immediately from day one. Students will begin to understand that anything is possible if they join in with all opportunities and are motivated to succeed. We ensure all students are provided with outstanding support, guidance and opportunities to realise their ambitions.
Our prestigious performance sport is another key component of our success in the sixth form. We have been incredibly successful over recent years and the provision attracts youngsters with exceptional aptitude from the local area and beyond. We organise our curriculum so that students on these programmes have the same access to the broad curriculum offer that their peers receive while also supporting their performance development.
