Transition Timeline

 

Term 1

  • Year 6 students from local feeder primary schools will be invited to take part in a series of after-school taster activities.

  • John Madejski Academy Open Evening

  • School in Action tours will begin and continue to be advertised on the John Madejski Academy website.  Booking options can be found on our school website here.

  • Deadline for secondary school applications.

 

 


Term 2

  • The John Madejski Academy Transition Team will liaise with primary schools to collate contact details for all Year 6 teaching staff.

  • KS2 students from local feeder primary schools will be invited to take part in a series of after-school taster activities.

 


Term 4

  • School offers will be sent to parents/carers by Brighter Futures for Children on 3rd March 2026.

  • Welcome communications from John Madejski Academy sent to students/parents/carers

  • The transition timeline will be shared with Year 6 parents/carers.

 

 


Term 5

  • The John Madejski Academy Transition Team will liaise with primary schools to arrange dates for Year 6 Transition visits. These visits will involve members of our Senior Leadership Team meeting with students who have accepted a Year 7 place at their primary school.

  • Parents and carers will also be invited to attend a Transition meeting after school. This meeting will take place at the child’s primary school and will aim to address any questions or concerns they may have regarding the transition process.

 


Term 6

  • The Transition Information Booklet will be sent to all families with accepted places. This booklet will include key information regarding the John Madejski Academy transition process, as well as details about our fantastic Summer School and the signing-up process.

  • Transition visits will take place at primary schools, conducted by members of the John Madejski Academy Senior Leadership Team

  • Year 7 Transition Day – Date TBC (Early July)

  • An information letter will be sent to families regarding the start-of-term arrangements.

  • KS2 students from local feeder primary schools will be invited to take part in a series of after-school taster activities.
