Students
Planning your career journey is important, especially if you would like a smooth ride into your chosen career and/or higher education. The earlier you start thinking and planning your ideal career, the better. At JMA, we start exploring CIAG in year 7 and continue our journey through until the day you leave school, whether that is at the end of year 11 or year 13.
At school and at home, you will be expected to work on your ‘start’ profiles. Upload all CIAG documents to keep everything in one place.
Start includes the following:
- A student profile: You build your profile and access personalised study and career information.
- Modules: activities to guide you through the information on Start at the right time.
- Up to date information: engaging content on what to study, where to learn and the world of work.
- Locker: an online record of achievement to evidence skills for future applications and CVs.
- Employability action plan: You can set goals and stay in control of their career planning.
If you need support with careers, different types of access, application forms etc, you can attend drop in sessions with Mr Tombs and Mr Hudson which will occur every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school in A pod. If you cannot make after school speak or email us to book another time slot. You can email us on: gbale@johnmadejskiacademy.co.uk ; chudson@johnmadejskiacademy.co.uk
Below are a variety of links that will help support you on your journey.

How can I gain work experience?
In Years 10 and 12, everyone will have the opportunity of 'experience in the world of work.' This involves a few days gaining experience of work and the real world. Students will also be given an opportunity to have a practice job interview with real-life business people, who will then give students detailed feedback on how to improve for when they do real job interviews.
