International Selection – FINAL 32

Salhin and Ousman both progressed through the first two stages of ESFA International Trials and were selected to represent South West England in a match against the South East from which they had a chance to progress to the final squad selection weekend at Lilleshall. The game ended in a 2-2 draw with both Ousman and Salhin scoring the goals.

Both boys have now progressed to the Final Selection weekend in January at Lilleshall where they will spend 3 days training and playing in games against the RAF and Royal Navy aiming to impress enough to be selected for the final squad and to represent England in the Centenary Shield.

Director of Football Performance Michael Butcher said “To be selected as part of the best 32 players in the country outside of an academy is already a great achievement for both of the boys and we hope that they continue to impress at the final stage and their hard work is rewarded. We have had 6 or 7 boys now reach the final selection weekend over the last 7-8 years but only Ashleigh (Artwell) has made the squad and played for England Schoolboys so hopefully that will change this year!”
