ASPIRE Girls Rewarded for Programme Attendance
Reading Rockets ASPIRE Programme celebrated this week as it reached its half way point. The last 5 months have seen between 15-20 girls each week take part in both weekly sports sessions and educational workshops which have helped provide the girls with information on mental health and how they can stay safe online. These workshops have been delivered by No.5 Young People’s Counselling Service who have become a key partner on the ASPIRE programme.
This week those girls that had attended 80% or more of the sessions were rewarded with sports t-shirts as a well done for their hard work and commitment to the programme.
The ASPIRE programme is the first in the area to bring both sport and education together to help educate and support young girls on mental health and how they can help to keep themselves healthy and well but also helping to support them when they do face difficulties with their mental health.
It’s been an absolute pleasure to have worked with the girls in the school so far and I would like to thank all the staff at the school and especially Rebecca Anderson who have supported the club and helped the programme to grow.
